Chidimma Vanessa Adetshina, a 23-year-old of Nigerian and Mozambican heritage, has been crowned Miss Universe Nigeria 2024.
Born and raised in South Africa, Adetshina’s journey to this prestigious title was anything but conventional.
Adetshina became the focus of widespread controversy after entering the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant as Miss Taraba, following her withdrawal from the Miss South Africa competition.
Her decision to withdraw was influenced by a barrage of negative online comments questioning her nationality and allegations of fraud by the South African Home Office.
Despite these challenges, the Miss Universe Nigeria organizers extended a gracious invitation to her, which she accepted, setting the stage for her ultimate triumph.
The Miss Universe Nigeria competition was a dazzling spectacle of beauty, intelligence, and poise.
As the contestants displayed their elegance in evening gowns, the top five finalists were announced, including Adetshina representing Taraba, alongside finalists from Anambra, Edo, Ondo, and Rivers.
In the final stages of the competition, the top three winners were revealed: Miss Ondo was honored as Miss Lush, Miss Anambra as the first runner-up and Miss Supranational, while Chidimma Adetshina claimed the coveted title of Miss Universe Nigeria 2024.
“This crown is not just a symbol of beauty; it represents a call for unity,” Adetshina remarked upon receiving her crown.
She will now go on to represent Nigeria at the global Miss Universe competition.
